The Summer Capital of the Philippines

 There is no place as cool in the country than in Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines. The city is built mostly above hills and mountains, therefore making its temperature really cool. Most Filipinos would associate the name "Baguio City" with the word "cold", because it actually is the coldest place in the Philippines. It is called "Summer Capital" because Filipinos usually go there for vacation during the summer months of March to May in the country.

It is one of the tourist spots the Philippines has to offer. Filipinos themselves consider Baguio City as one of the places where they would like to choose for vacation.

From Metro Manila, the distance to Baguio City has an average of 250 kilometers, depending on which part of Metro Manila you will come from. That length will be covered by 6 to 8 hours of travelling by car or bus. If you are ever planning to visit Baguio City, remember to bring a jacket or buy from there. Located in the province of Benguet, Baguio is situated on the northern part of Luzon.

Baguio City has achieved its recent coldest atmospheric temperature at 9.6 degrees Celsius (taken January 5, 2011) as compared to Metro Manila's coldest at 18.1 degrees Celsius (taken January 27, 2015).

It is one of the very few places in the country where the climate is favorable for strawberries to grow. Filipinos who went there from Metro Manila would buy strawberries just before they return home and quickly refrigerate it, as those strawberries are freshly picked and are free from preservatives.
